Programme

Ireland faces many challenges in the coming years. To fully unlock it’s potential it requires that as a nation we all have access to a reliable high speed broadband connection.

Which is why we are proud to be Ireland's fastest growing and largest full fibre network.

We are spearheading the charge with our Full Fibre deployment programme, our ambition is to connect 1.9million homes and businesses by 2026 – that’s 84% of the nation.

With over 1.2 million premises already completed, we are revolutionising connectivity.  Our project involves laying down over 70,000km of fibre routes, equivalent to circumnavigating the glove 1.75 times.

But it’s not just about a broadband connection.  Our fibre connection will also support your voice requirements, eliminating the need for outdated copper lines.  For households with medical or home alarms on copper, we advise transitioning these services to fibre or mobile alternatives, your alarm provider can help you with this.

Progress Update

As homes and businesses embrace Full Fibre Connectivity (FTTH), demand for our old copper network declines. It's time to streamline and boost efficiency by setting clear rules for full migration and eventual copper switch-off.

That's why open eir is working with both Comreg and our Wholesale customers to ensure migration from copper to fibre is seamless and hassle free.
